Twitter or Yammer?
I’ve been on Twitter for almost 6 months now and I’m hooked — there is no better way to enable a “group consciousness” where all your thoughts, news, and actions can be shared and built upon. The official service category is “microblogging” but it ends up being more like asynchronous group chat. Unfortunately, Twitter hasn’t solved the inevitable issue of monetization just yet, but a copycat service, Yammer, aimed at corporate customers is already monetizing. See this NY Times article for more information.
